Lyndhurst Florist has long been a stable business in the South Euclid-Lyndhurst community. It was started by Thomas Costa on Sunview Road in 1923. Today it is owned and operated by two Brush graduates, Tom Santos ('70) and his sister Sandra Uzell ('73).

In 1923, the business had greenhouses on Sunview and grew their own flowers, selling them around the Cleveland area. In 1929, Mr. and Mrs. Peter Piccino bought the business, operating it from the Sunview site. The Piccino's ex-panded the greenhouses, thus allowing them to expand their selection of flowers. In 1946, the family decided to open a retail store on the corner of Mayfield and Jaeger Roads in Lyndhurst where it remains today.

Mr. Alfred Santos (Mrs. Piccino's son) ran the business. He was a talented floral designer and made the store popular in the community. Many of us can remember getting our homecoming and prom flowers from Mr. Santos and Lynd-hurst Florist.

Tom and Sandy carry on the family tradition, as third generation florists. It is one of the oldest and most unique flower shops and garden centers around.
